In front of my desk, I’ve tacked three sheets of paper. And since I'm kinda peripatetic (my fate?), I also untack them and take them with me, wherever I go.
The first is a drawing of my little precious kulit (imp) of a fantasy community where everything is free. Each building has a banner: Clothes for poor. Libre lang (free). School for poor. Soup kitchen.
Such an honestly kind and giving soul, my girl. Despite being headstrong, and having that temper of course (hmm, from who, I wonder? Calling Goad).
The second is a short letter to me, from her, again, telling me to “Do Well” because she loves me very much.
And the third is a four-year-old print out of the webpage about the color red from Rainbow Stress Reduction from World Health Online. On the bottom half, lovingly scribbled, is a note from my unexpectedly dear friend (12 years younger than me), Kat, Ms. Sunshine personified. If I can be this dark, a lot of times:
Katzee and Marge are this light:

Thanks Kat, Marge for lending sunshine and color, books and money to this crabby woman, and for the refreshingly simple and down-to-earth gimmicks we’ve shared, where I’ve always been able to tag along my little one (picnic sa sunken garden, chatting until KFC Glorietta down, hehe).
And for all the pasalubong and gifts, the beso-beso and simple chika. You girls are the light to my dark.
Here's Kat, now uptown girl in the Lion City

And a sample of how kenkoy they are:
Si Marge
(by Kat)
Marge is the tokwa of my baboy
the the bagoong of my mangga
the asado of my siopao
the eye of my pigsa
She's the puto of my dinuguan
the suka of my tuyo
the coke of my chichirya
the laman of my buto
Ako'y pinagpala at siya'y nakilala
Naging kaibigan at thesis partner pa
Hindi mabubuo ang buhay kong ito
Kung wala si Margarette M. Teodosio.
Here's Marge (third from left with the angelina jolie smile)
Salamat sa sunshine, girls.
